Our work
The Transplant Trust has established a broad ranging remit in the field of transplantation.
• Funding research – focusing on improving the lives of patients and families affected by transplantation
• Supporting the transplant community by hosting and operating www.thetxspace.com the worlds first social networking site in the field of transplantation. The site allows everyone in the
transplant community to share experiences and knowledge in a secure online environment.
• Running National Transplant Week, this is held in July each year. A whole week of campaigning and publicity to promote organ and tissue donation.
• Donor Days, North and South - Donor Awareness Days to take the message of the importance of transplantation into local communities. Our focus on these days is to support the work of UK Transplant who run the NHS Organ Donor Register and encourage local businesses to run their own organ donor awareness campaigns in the workplace with our support.
We also have representation within groups that promote organ donation in ethnic minority groups where sign up levels are significantly lower.
• Donor Bus a Routemaster and from 2008 a single decker bus, which travels the country promoting donation and transplantation. Our Outreach teams, both paid and volunteer encourage thousands of people to sign up to NHS Organ Donor Register each year.
Supporting our member organisations and network of volunteers through the provision of information, promotion and publicity materials.
We have a fully developed communications plan to provide journalists with an authoritative point of contacts for stories about transplantation.
