What do we do?

The Transplant Trust has established a broad ranging remit in the field of transplantation.

· Funding research – focusing on improving the lives of patients and families affected by transplantation

· Supporting the transplant community by hosting and operating www.thetxspace.com

· Outreach work – as well as running National Transplant Week, which is held each July, we run Donor Awareness Days to take the message of the importance of transplantation into local communities. Our focus on these days is to support the work of UK Transplant who run the NHS Organ Donor Register. We also have representation within groups that promote organ donation in ethnic minority groups where sign up levels are lower. Our Outreach team, both paid and volunteer encourage thousands of people to sign up to NHS Organ Donor Register each year.

A message from Professor John Wallwork, Chairman of The Transplant Trust

Transplantation is a miracle of modern medicine and The Transplant Trust is the UK's leading charity funding research into this field and working alongside government and NHS bodies to encourage more people to join the NHS Organ Donor Register. Our outreach teams visit schools, colleges, businesses large and small across the UK to educate and advise on the issues surrounding organ donation. Each year we run a number of larger awareness events during National Transplant Week and we also run Donor Days, one in the north of England and one in the south. At these events we bring together eminent physicians, patients, donor families and local organisations to share information about the importance of transplantation.

Our fundraising activities fund not only the awareness work but our research programme as well. You will find more details about our current research activities in the research area.

Linking all our activities together is our social networking website www.thetxspace,com the world's first social networking site for the transplant community where anyone involved with transplantation can go to find information, support and to make friends in a safe online environment. Your support for the work that we do is vital to our ongoing success.
